Jordanian Illegal Alien Linked to Terror Watchlist Released After Attempting to Breach U.S. Military Base

A recent incident involving a Jordanian illegal alien, who is listed on a terror watchlist, has sparked significant concern over national security and immigration enforcement in the United States. The individual in question, along with another illegal immigrant, was caught trying to breach Marine Corps Base Quantico, a critical military installation just outside of Washington, D.C.

The Attempted Breach

On May 3, 2024, Hasan Yousef Hamdan and Mohammad Khair Dabous approached the main gate of Marine Corps Base Quantico in a truck, claiming they were there to make a delivery. When asked to provide proper credentials, they failed to comply and ignored orders to stop, leading to their immediate arrest for trespassing on military property.

Marine Base Quantico, known for housing the FBI Academy and several key intelligence facilities, took the incident seriously, especially after discovering that Hamdan had illegally entered the U.S. just 20 days prior and was flagged on a terror watchlist.

Jordanian Illegal Immigrant’s Unexpected Release

Despite the serious nature of the breach, both men were released on bail just a month later. Hamdan’s bail was set at $15,000, and Dabous was released on a $10,000 bond. This decision, facilitated by the Washington D.C. Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has raised eyebrows among those concerned with national security.

ICE, however, downplayed the threat. According to James Covington, an ICE spokesperson, neither Hamdan nor Dabous posed a significant risk to public safety. Covington emphasized that custody decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, considering various factors, including U.S. law and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) policies.
